Arkanoid Live!

Taito's classic block-breaking game Arkanoid is reborn on both the Xbox 360 (as an Xbox Live Arcade title) and the Wii (as a WiiWare title).

Overview

Arkanoid Live! is a block-breaking game developed and digitally published by Taito for the Xbox 360 on May 6, 2009. It was also released digitally for the Wii (as Arkanoid Plus!) in Japan (on May 26, 2009), Europe (by Square Enix on August 21, 2009), and North America (by Square Enix on September 28, 2009).

Similar to Taito's other "Plus!" WiiWare games (Bubble Bobble Plus! and Bust-A-Move Plus!), Arkanoid Live! is a recreation of the original 1986 game Arkanoid that retains its classic gameplay and art style. Players control spaceship VAUS as they pursue enemy aliens in an interdimensional labyrinth on the planet Arkanoid to protect refugees from a war-torn planet.

Both versions of the game have different level structure (with the 360 version having linear sets of "Episodes" and the Wii verison having "Zones" with branching paths). Both versions have DLC Level Packs and their own unique game mode (one-on-one Versus Mode for the 360 version, featuring online multiplayer via Xbox Live, and a Time Attack Mode for the Wii version). The game features customizable rules, with players choosing to disallow enemies and to use a single-life system (with a multi-level Barrier on the bottom).

As of January 30, 2019, the Wii version of the game can no longer be acquired due to the closure of the Wii Shop Channel.
