Halo: Spartan Strike

The sequel to Halo: Spartan Assault, Halo: Spartan Strike is a top-down shooter detailing classified events during both Halo 2 and Halo 4 (set as a "simulation" with an unnamed SPARTAN-IV soldier) involving a mysterious Forerunner artifact called the Conduit.

Overview

Halo: Spartan Strike is a sci-fi top-down shooter developed by Vanguard Games (in conjunction with 343 Industries) and digitally published by Microsoft for the PC (via both Steam and Windows Store) and both iOS and Windows Phone devices on April 16, 2015.

The sequel to the Halo spinoff Halo: Spartan Assault, Spartan Strike features a variety of new weapons, vehicles, abilities, and enemies (the latter including the Prometheans from Halo 4), as well as bonus integration with Halo: The Master Chief Collection and the complete removal of microtransactions. It is the last game released by Vanguard Games (before their merger with Force Field) and did not receive a console release.

Like the previous game, the game takes place in historical battle simulations on special datapads (the UNSC Tactical Simulator) aboard the UNSC Infinity. After a prologue mission during the Battle for New Mombasa (where the player simulates the actions of an ODST squad with an unknown SPARTAN-IV soldier), players then assume control over another unknown SPARTAN-IV soldier during the events of Halo 4. This soldier is sent to Gamma Halo to investigate a mysterious Forerunner device known as the Conduit, fighting off a splinter Covenant group.
