Uootoy

A puzzle-platformer for Japanese computers starring toy penguin Ten-Ten, who can jump and drop blocks in front of him to reach his goal.

Overview

Uootoy is a puzzle-platformer released by Compac for the Sharp X1, NEC PC-8801, and FM-7 computers in 1985. It was originally released as a "type-in game" created by Takashina Yasushi ("TENDON") for the FM-7, included in the August 1984 issue of the Japanese microcomputer magazine I/O.

The goal of the game is to guide the hero toy penguin Ten-Ten to the goal while avoiding obstacles. Along with jumping, he can drop blocks in front of them to create both a barrier against enemy obstacles and a tower for climbing.

It later received a deliberately-retro PC remake in 2024 by Mindware as Uootoy 3671.
