Real Bout Fatal Fury Special (known in Japan as Real Bout Garou Densetsu Special, which loosely translates to "Real Bout: Legend of the Hungry Wolf - Special") is a 2D fighting game developed and released by SNK for arcades (using the Neo Geo MVS hardware) on January 28, 1997.

The sixth installment of the Fatal Fury series, Real Bout Special revamps the original Real Bout Fatal Fury by changing the "Oversway" system into a "two line" fighting system similar to earlier Fatal Fury games (making use of a dedicated "line change" button), replacing ring outs with breakable walls (that dizzy fighters if they break it by being knocked into it), and retooling recovery rolling (which now require a dedicated command move and half of the Power Gauge to execute). Along with an updated sprite style and new music for most characters, the game adds four characters from Fatal Fury Special (including Tung Fu Rue, Cheng Sinzan, Laurence Blood, and Wolfgang Krauser). Krauser now serves as the game's final boss, with series antagonist Geese Howard as a secret boss (known as the "nightmare match").

The game was released for the Neo Geo AES on February 28, 1997 and ported to the Neo Geo CD (on March 30, 1997), Saturn (on December 23, 1997 in Japan only), and Game Boy (on March 27, 1998 in Japan only). It was also released in the Fatal Fury Battle Archives Volume 2 compilation for the PlayStation 2 and was digitally released on the Wii (via Wii Virtual Console) on 2012 (February 28 for Japan, August 9 for North America, and September 6 for Europe).

A special PlayStation port was released on June 25, 1998, titled Real Bout Special: Dominated Mind, adding a new storyline with two new characters (young pilot Alfred Airhawk as the new protagonist, and bizarre criminal White as the new final boss). Despite the lack of a multi-line system, the game includes new moves and gameplay mechanics (including super cancels and parries). This version was digitally re-released (via PlayStation Network) on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable on May 30, 2007 in Japan only.
