Imperial Glory

In this historical strategy game by Pyro Studios, command one of five powerful 19th-century empires in battles all over the world.

Overview

Imperial Glory was developed by Pyro Studios and was released by Edios Interactive in 2005.

The game is set during the Revolutionary to Napoleonic era (Specifically 1789 to 1815), and shares Total War's gameplay systems:

Real-time battles (However in Imperial Glory the time-speed cannot be changed or paused), where you directly control groups of units, having points on the map that can be held to force armies to attack, else they lose after a timer has finished.

And Empire Management, with diplomacy, city building, land/naval unit recruitment, research, and trading, where research and the world progresses along 3 distinct eras, the second and third having administration options that change specific technologies depending on your choice.

There are three single-player modes and multi-playerfor to 2-4 players.

In all players can take control of 5 empires : Great Britain, France, Prussia, Austria, Russia, each with their own sets of elite troops, sharing the rest, and their own unit voices, troop colours and flags.

Single-Player

There are three single-player modes :

Campaign - The player takes control of an Empire and can choose between :

An open-ended 'Total Victory' - Complete Conquest of Europe,

or 'Score Victory' - Winning by attaining the highest glory points by the end of the game in 1815,

In each the player uses both systems mentioned above, taking turns with the AI, each turn representing one month.

Historic Battles - Five battles where the player must use the forces given to win that particular battle, the battles being:

  • Battle of Waterloo - France versus Britain/Netherlands/Hannover
  • Battle of Friedland - Prussia versus Russia
  • Retreat from Austerlitz - France versus Austria/Russia
  • Battle of the Pyramids - France versus the Mamelukes
  • Battle of Salamanca - France versus Portugal/Spain/Britain

Unlike Total War, you can play either side.

Quick Game - An open-ended battle, where the player can assign the Empire and Troops for each side, and fight that battle.

Multi-Player

The Multi-Player is Battles Only, where the host can choose the map, whether the game is land or naval, or to play a historical battle, afterwards each player chooses their faction and units up to a set total, and then fights.
