Monster Hunter Frontier

Monster Hunter Frontier is a PC MMORPG featuring a new guild system, customizable homes, and new monsters to hunt.

Release

The game was released for the Xbox 360 in Japan on June 24, 2010. There are currently no plans to release it in North America or Europe. The game was originally released in Japan on the PC on June 21, 2007.

On May 23, 2012, Microsoft has bundled the game with Halo Reach, Gears of War 2, and Fable III download codes in a "value bundle" for the Japanese market.

Development

The game received a fair amount of upgrades and changes from its handheld predecessors:

  • Guild features were expanded
  • The Hunter Rank (HR) was raised to 999
  • Regular patches would add/update weapons, armor, and items
  • Players were given the ability to customize their houses by purchasing or crafting ornaments and furniture for decoration
  • Weapon and armor paths were altered
  • New monsters were added

New monsters included:

  • Espinas (plant like wyverns)
  • Akura Vushima (crystal scorpion)
  • Berukuros (thunder phoenix)
  • Pariapuria (aquatic pseudowyvern)
  • Kamu Orugaron (canine)
  • Nono Orugaron (canine)
  • Raviente (snake)
