Youyou Kengeki Musou ("Youyou Swordplay Dream") is a doujin game from Sauce Spa based on the Touhou Project universe. The player, as half-phantom swordfighting expert Youmu Konpaku, is sent by her master (and lazy fencing student) Yuyuko Saigyouji, the princess of the Netherworld, to defeat the powerful shrine maiden (and frequent Touhou protagonist) Reimu Hakurei. Despite the fact that her chances of success are slim, Youmu nonetheless takes off for Reimu's home in Hakurei Shrine.
The game is depicted from a top-down view, but occasionally switches to a more horizontal view, as Youmu carves her away through many enemies and obstacles on her journey. The hack-and-slash action is reminiscent of Falcom's ARPG series Ys. There's less emphasis on RPG elements, however, though there are a few platforming sequences.
