The Scheme (ザ・スキーム) is an action RPG released by Bothtec (now Quest) for the NEC PC-88 home computer in 1988.

The game features Metroidvania-style, open-world exploration, in a large game world for its time, with more than 500 screens.

It also features a side-scrolling, run & gun shooter, real-time combat system.

It is also known for its chiptune music soundtrack by Yuzo Koshiro, one of the best game composers of the 16-bit era.
