Super Mario Maker 2

The sequel to Super Mario Maker brings slopes, additional tools, graphic styles, and more to the Switch.

Overview

Super Mario Maker 2 is a 2D platformer and construction game that allows players to create their own levels in the Super Mario Bros. universe, specifically using the mechanical and visual assets from Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, New Super Mario Bros. U, and (new to Super Mario Maker 2) Super Mario 3D World. Like the original Super Mario Maker, players can upload their creations for others to play and likewise download other levels from creators the world over.

As well as the Super Mario 3D World toolset, Super Mario Maker 2 has added a new single-player mode which runs players through the basics of level creation and co-op tools to allow two people to work on a stage at once. There are also mechanical additions such as slopes, auto-scrolling direction, on/off switches, new enemies and power-ups, and new level themes and music. A later patch also added Ninji Runs, where the community competes for the fastest time on a single stage, and the ability to turn into Link, the hero of The Legend of Zelda franchise, who can use the Master Sword, bombs, and arrows to eliminate enemies, destroy walls, and activate switches.
