Overview

Romancing SaGa 2 is the second game in the Romancing SaGa RPG series and the fifth overall SaGa game. As with previous games in the series, it was directed by SquareSoft's Akitoshi Kawazu, who had previously worked for Final Fantasy II for the Famicom. Romancing SaGa 2 sits between 1992's Romancing SaGa and 1995's Romancing SaGa 3 as the series' middle entry.

Romancing SaGa allows the player to assume the role of the Emperor (or Empress) of Avalon, and all subsequent heirs. Depending on which party members each ruler meets and allies with, they are given the choice of four heirs with traits from their parents to continue their legacy. As well as stopping the forces of evil that threaten the world's peace, the player is also expected to run their kingdom, convening with advisers and making decisions to help foster prosperity for Avalon.

Romancing SaGa 2 was never released outside of Japan. It remained a Super Famicom exclusive until it was added to the Japanese Wii Shop in 2010 and adapted for mobile phones in 2011. In 2014, it was added to the Japanese Wii U eShop.
