Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers

The second in the Devil Summoner series, Soul Hackers follows a group called the Spookies as they attempt to stop an overflow of demons in a city where the internet is all-pervasive. Released in 1997, it anticipated a future dominated by the internet and depicted a fictional virtual-reality cyberspace city called Paradigm X.

Overview

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers is a sequel to the original Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, and is part of Atlus's larger Megami Tensei franchise. Originally released on the Sega Saturn and later for the Sony PlayStation in Japan, it was remade on the 3DS in 2012.

The setting was unique for its time, anticipating a future dominated by the internet and featuring a fictional virtual-reality cyberspace city called Paradigm X, years before The Matrix franchise of movies and games.
