Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection

Official virtual recreations of pinball machines from famed pinball table manufacturer Gottlieb.

Overview

Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection (known in later European releases as Gottlieb Pinball Classics and in the early European release as Pinball Hall of Fame: The Ultimate Gottlieb Collection) is a virtual pinball collection developed by FarSight and published by Crave in North America for the PlayStation 2 (on November 16, 2004), Xbox (on November 18, 2004), GameCube (on March 20, 2005). The PS2 version was later released in Europe (first by Play It in 2005, then by System 3 in 2006).

The first virtual pinball collection by American studio FarSight, The Gottlieb Collection includes seven playable pinball machines, each of which are accurate recreations of real-life machines manufactured by Gottlieb. Along with bonus game options, players can unlock special features (including custom pinballs and vintage amusement games, such as fortune teller and love tester machines).

It later received a sequel, sub-titled The Williams Collection (focusing on Williams tables). All of the main tables in this game, with the exceptions of Ace High and Play-Boy, were later included in the series' free-to-play spiritual successor, The Pinball Arcade.

The game was ported to the PlayStation Portable in both North America (on December 6, 2005) and Europe (on February 10, 2006) and was ported to the Wii in Europe (on December 16, 2006). The Wii version was later released in North America on January 19, 2010.

Gameplay

Unlockable Features

Each table in The Gottlieb Collection has a specific goal that when completed will unlock a feature. The goal for each table can be viewed by going to the table menu and selecting goal. Certain games will also require tokens to play, and more can be acquired by performing well. Free Play on those tables can also be unlocked when completing specific table goals.

Tournament Mode

Tournament mode is based on some real life scoring modes created by pinball players for tournaments. Tournament mode can be played with up to 4 players at a time. The first replay score for a table is divided by 10, and then equals one tournament point. Each time a player reaches reaches the scoring threshold, another point will be awarded. The total amount of tournament points are accumulated across all seven of the tables, and the player with the most tournament points at the end wins.

Custom Ball

The custom ball feature will allow the player to change the appearance of the pinball.
