Game play
Monster Rancher DS revolves around obtaining monsters, then raising, fighting, and breeding them. There are mainly two ways to create new monsters, which are: drawing pictures using the touchscreen, or speaking into the microphone. It is also possible to combine two existing monsters to create a new monster. You then use your monsters to compete in tournaments to make money and gain ranks. It is possible to either command the monster yourself or let them fight on their own.
Multi-player
You can battle against a friend in "Local Battle" or "Wi-Fi Battle," as well as combine one of your monsters with one of your friend's monsters to create a new monster that both players receive.
