Aldynes

Horizontal-scrolling shoot 'em up for the Supergrafx.

Overview

Aldynes, or Aldynes: The Mission Code for Rage Crisis, is a horizontal shoot 'em up for the SuperGrafx console, and one of five games created specifically for the system. It used a form of parallax scrolling that would otherwise be impossible on the basic TurboGrafx/PC Engine system. Like all SuperGrafx games, and the SuperGrafx system itself, it was exclusive to the Japanese market.

One unique feature of the game is how the player could "charge" their shot to create an energy shield that covered the front of the ship. The player could use this shield to fly into enemies and destroy them instead of relying on their normal weapons, but were still vulnerable from above, below and behind.

Originally released in 1991, the game would be made available for Japanese PlayStation Network users on 2011 as part of the PC Engine Classics range.
