Kirby Fighters Deluxe

A fighting-focused spin-off of the Kirby series, and an expanded standalone version of a mini-game from Kirby: Triple Deluxe.

Overview

Kirby Fighters Deluxe (known in Japan as Kirby Fighters Z) is a 2.5D platformer-fighting game developed by HAL Laboratory and published digitally by Nintendo for the Nintendo 3DS on July 23, 2014 in Japan, on August 29, 2014 in North America, and on February 13, 2015 in Europe.

A spin-off of the Kirby series (and released alongside the similar title Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe), Kirby Fighters Deluxe is a revamped standalone version of the "Kirby Fighters" mini-game from Kirby: Triple Deluxe (released months earlier). Similar to the original, it is a fighting game for up to four players, similar to the studio's earlier Super Smash Bros. series, with only Kirbys as playable combatants (with at least 10 distinct Copy Abilities to choose from).

New additions include two additional Copy Abilities (both of which require save data from Kirby: Triple Deluxe to access) and revamped single-player and multi-player modes (with the latter adding teamplay). Like the original, the game supports Download Play multiplayer with limited functionality.

The game later received a sequel for the Nintendo Switch, titled Kirby Fighters 2.

Characters

All ten Copy Abilities from the original mini-game return, as well as two new ones (both of which can only be unlocked by having save data from Kirby: Triple Deluxe), for a total of 12 playable characters.

In addition, King Dedede is the game's unplayable final boss. During the battle, he summons numerous miniature versions of himself to fight alongside him.
