Kirby Fighters 2

The Switch sequel to the 3DS platformer-fighting spin-off of the Kirby series, adding new playable characters and new game modes (such as online multiplayer and a single-player Story Mode).

Overview

Kirby Fighters 2 is a 2.5D platformer-fighting game developed by HAL Laboratory (along with Vanpool) and published digitally by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch on September 23, 2020.

The sequel to both "Kirby Fighters" (a mini-game from Kirby: Triple Deluxe) and the standalone game Kirby Fighters Deluxe, Kirby Fighters 2 is the Switch debut of the spin-off series and is the first on a console platform. It adds a variety of new playable characters, stages, items, and game modes (including a single-player Story Mode), and is the first to support online multiplayer.

Bonus cosmetics can be unlocked if players have save data from either Kirby Star Allies or Super Kirby Clash.

Characters

Like both Kirby Fighters and Kirby Fighters Deluxe, the character roster in Kirby Fighters 2 consists mostly of Kirby with a specific Copy Ability. All twelve characters from Kirby Fighters Deluxe return, along with five new Copy Ability characters and five new non-Kirby characters (for a total of 22 playable characters).

By default, only Sword Kirby, Bomb Kirby, Staff Kirby, and Bandana Waddle Dee are playable from the start. Most of the roster must be unlocked by playing the game (similar to the Super Smash Bros. series), with two of them (Meta Knight and King Dedede) unlocked through the game's Story Mode.
